Fresh Organic Vine-Ripened Tomatoes, The Soul of Every Kenyan Kitchen, Grown Clean at Quis Qitchen
The tomato is the heartbeat of the Kenyan kitchen. It forms the base of almost every stew, soup, stir-fry, and sauce prepared across the country daily. Which is precisely why it matters enormously where yours come from and how they were grown. A tomato that was picked too early, treated with ripening agents, and trucked across the country for days is not the same ingredient as one that was allowed to ripen fully on the vine in clean, organic soil and arrive at your kitchen within 48 hours of harvest. At Quis Qitchen, we grow the second kind — and once you cook with them, you will never go back.
Our organic tomatoes are grown in richly composted, certified organic soil on our Kenyan farm. We allow each fruit to ripen fully on the vine before harvesting — a choice that most commercial operations cannot afford to make, but one that makes an enormous difference to flavour, texture, and nutritional value. Vine-ripened tomatoes are measurably sweeter, more aromatic, and more nutritionally complete than those picked green and artificially ripened off the plant. Ours are grown without synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilisers, or any form of artificial treatment — just sunlight, good soil, water, and time.
Tomatoes are one of the most studied vegetables in nutritional science. They are the single richest dietary source of lycopene, a powerful carotenoid antioxidant linked to reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and certain cancers. They also deliver meaningful amounts of vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, folate, and beta-carotene — all nutrients that support immune health, skin vitality, and overall cellular wellbeing. The lycopene in tomatoes becomes significantly more bioavailable when the tomatoes are cooked with a small amount of fat, meaning your daily stew is actively nourishing you far more than you might realise.
In the kitchen, Quis Qitchen tomatoes perform beautifully across every application. Cook them down with onions, garlic, and coriander for the rich tomato base that is the foundation of Kenyan cooking. Slice them fresh over a salad with avocado, cucumber, and lemon dressing. Roast them whole with garlic and olive oil until caramelised and jammy. Blend into a fresh tomato sauce for pasta, pizza, or eggs. Add to soups, lentil dishes, fish stews, and pilau for depth, acidity, and colour that only a genuinely ripe tomato can deliver.
Every kilogram is hand-sorted on our farm, packed to order, and delivered fresh to your Nairobi doorstep within 48 hours of harvest.
